The need: getting invoices to customers faster and cutting paper mail
Most of Pihlajalinna’s consumer customers pay for their services at the time of the visit. This is not possible in every situation, and in those cases the customer is sent an invoice.
Pihlajalinna used to receive feedback from customers about the slow delivery of paper invoices, as people often want to pay their invoices as soon as possible. However, the company had not wanted to introduce e-invoices, because changes to its back-end systems would have required large upfront investments.
The solution: Siirto’s e-invoice address service, with no changes to systems
Pihlajalinna has worked with its invoicing partner Ropo since 2020. In spring 2026, a meeting with representatives of Ropo and Siirto brought a new option to the table: Siirto’s e-invoice address service could be introduced without any changes to Pihlajalinna’s systems.
The decision was made on the basis of that one meeting.
“The benefits for us and our consumer customers were so obvious that we decided to move ahead right away,” says Katariina Kössi, Head of Contract Management and Invoicing Processes at Pihlajalinna.
“As a healthcare provider, we need a reliable partner for invoicing. We are interested in new opportunities and solutions that strengthen the customer experience, and we are happy to adopt them,” says CFO Tarja Rantala.
In the implementation, Pihlajalinna’s task was to make the e-invoice agreement with the bank. Ropo took care of the other steps, documented the invoicing process and prepared instructions for customer service to guide customers.
“The implementation could not have been easier. Everything went as planned,” Katariina Kössi says.
The results: faster payments and lower costs
Pihlajalinna soon noticed that e-invoices delivered through Siirto are paid about 4–5 days faster than paper invoices.
The cost savings have also been tangible. In a single invoicing run, Pihlajalinna saved almost EUR 2,000 as the number of paper invoices fell. On a monthly basis, savings from the invoicing of different units have amounted to thousands of euros.
Problems related to the postal delivery of paper invoices have also decreased. Customers have hardly commented on the change, which is a good sign.
Katariina Kössi also recommends Siirto to other companies that invoice consumers.
“At the moment, e-invoices reach those OP and Nordea customers who have activated Siirto. As the adoption of the service expands, we can reach more and more of our customers with e-invoices.”

How Siirto’s e-invoice address service works
The consumer activates Siirto in their bank’s app. Siirto forwards their e-invoice address to billers that use the service, so that invoices can be delivered directly to the consumer’s own bank. The invoice is matched to the recipient using their personal identity code.
For the biller, it is simply a matter of delivering a familiar Finvoice e-invoice. Siirto works with e-invoice operators such as Ropo.
