Paytrail and Siirto launch cooperation to support Finnish payments

Article 05.02.2026

Siirto is known for its real-time Siirto payments and account-based money transfers. Through the newly signed cooperation, the renewed Siirto online payment method—set to be launched in early summer—will become available within Paytrail’s service. Paytrail is Finland’s largest online payment provider and the most widely used payment service in e‑commerce.

The Siirto service is being rebuilt in Finland using entirely new technology, making payments significantly faster and easier than before.

“For us, it is important to advance Finnish e‑commerce and payments together with strong domestic partners and to support the growth of online stores. The cooperation with Siirto strengthens our goal of making online payments even smoother by offering merchants and consumers a new solution for easy and secure payments”

Markus Laurio, Chief Executive Officer of Paytrail

The cooperation strengthens the domestic payments infrastructure and ensures that online merchants and consumers can benefit from fast, secure and account‑based payments.

“It is great to bring the renewed Siirto service to Finnish online stores together with Paytrail. This is an important step towards a smoother and more open future of payments in Finland”

Mikko Ketola, Chief Executive Officer of Siirto.

What does the renewed Siirto online payment offer?

  • Payment transactions up to twice as fast as before
  • No card details – a secure and frictionless payment experience
  • Fewer abandoned purchases thanks to a simpler payment flow
  • More than one million users ready to pay with Siirto
  • Works also for payments in mobile applications
  • Consumers can choose the payment account for each transaction
  • A domestic alternative to international card schemes
