Finns will soon be able to make cross-border peer-to-peer payments across Europe using Siirto, as the service joins the European Payments Alliance (EuroPA) network.
EuroPA brings together leading European payment solutions to enable cross-border interoperability.
EuroPA enables interoperability between leading European mobile payment solutions, allowing users of different services to send money to each other across borders. By connecting multiple national payment solutions, EuroPA aims to increase reach, choice and interoperability for consumers across Europe.
The first cross-border instant payments within the EuroPA framework were carried out in March 2025. The network’s long-term ambition is to build a broad European person-to-person payments ecosystem with significant user reach across multiple countries.
The collaboration has the potential to reach more than 100 million users across Europe.
“EuroPA brings cross-border payments into the Siirto experience. Siirto allows Finns to use a trusted domestic service for cross-border payments as part of the broader European payments ecosystem,” says Matti Rusila, Head of Strategy & Product at Siirto Brand Oy.
Siirto operates within participating banks’ mobile and online banking applications, and cross-border payments will be integrated as part of the Siirto service. The renewed Siirto payment solution will be launched before summer 2026. The service will initially be available to customers of Nordea and OP, together covering approximately 70% of the Finnish population.
More detailed information on the timeline of Siirto’s EuroPA cooperation will be announced at a later date.
